KTVK's "Good Morning Arizona" Expansion Delivered Results

Most watched local newscast from 4:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

PHOENIX - KTVK 3TV's expansion of its highly rated morning show "Good Morning Arizona" (GMAZ) from 9-10 a.m., which launched on January 25th, firmly established GMAZ as the most watched local newscast in the Phoenix market from 4:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. In its first rating period, "Good Morning Arizona's" 9-10 a.m. hour out-delivered KSAZ FOX 10's local morning newscast, which has been airing for almost two years, by 17 percent.

The growth didn't stop there. "Good Evening Arizona" (GEAZ) continued to be the top news choice for Arizonans 25-54 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Each newscast showed significant growth from a year ago with GEAZ at 4:30pm and 5pm leading the way; up 113 percent and 55 percent respectively. "3TV News at 9 p.m." maintained its ratings while competing against the Olympics.

"The heavy lifting actually began before the February book started when we owned coverage of the winter storm that rocked Arizona in January," said Nick Nicholson, President and General Manager of KTVK. "Dominating coverage of that weather event was a great lead-in to the February rating book."

KTVK's news dominance didn't stop on the week days. "Good Morning Arizona" from 7am - 10am on Saturday and Sunday, was the clear morning choice for Arizona news viewers when compared to the local and national newscasts, while "Good Evening Arizona Saturday" was the No.1 evening newscast between 5 and 6 p.m.
