KENS television will expand its daily news coverage with a new 30-minute broadcast airing weekdays at 4pm, KENS 5 President and General Manager Robert McGann announced today.
Premiering August 2, "KENS 5 Eyewitness News: First at 4" will be anchored by veteran newscaster Deborah Knapp along with Chief Meteorologist Bill Taylor.
"KENS television has been a leader when it comes to serving this community with the most extensive, most comprehensive news coverage," said McGann. "KENS 5 was the first to launch a local 5am broadcast, and the first to have local morning newscasts on Saturday and Sunday. I am very pleased to announce that KENS 5 will be the first television station to bring our viewers live local news at 4pm."
"Our new afternoon broadcast will offer viewers the freshest, latest-breaking news, weather and information," said KENS 5 Executive News Director Kurt Davis. "It will be more interactive than anything we've ever done before, using the power of KENS 5.com to give viewers the opportunity to respond to stories and actually add their input to the broadcast."
"Jeopardy!" will continue in its same timeslot, airing at 4:30pm immediately following "KENS 5 Eyewitness News: First at 4."
