CW6 & 3TV Making Wishes Come True in 2010

Partners with Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona for "Wish Saturday"

PHOENIX In honor of Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona's 30th Anniversary, KASW CW6 and sister station KTVK 3TV are teaming up with the organization to make wishes come true for Arizona children dealing with life threatening illnesses. Currently, there are more than 300 Arizona children waiting for their wishes to be granted but some of those children may never see their wishes come true because of a lack of financial support.

On Saturday, March 20th, CW6 will hold "Wish Saturday", a seven-hour telethon dedicated to raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona. "Wish Saturday's" line-up starts at 2 p.m. and includes the movie "Goal!," comedy favorites "Friends", "King of Queens" and "Two and a Half Men" followed by the Oscar winning movie "Erin Brockovich."

Viewers will be encouraged to donate to the organization in station-produced vignettes featuring 3TV's Kaley O'Kelley and members of the CW6 Six Crew. The vignettes will air in commercial time donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona by CW6. A lower third banner during programming will highlight the various ways people can donate which include calling the Wish Saturday phone bank, texting WISH to 90999, donating on or by giving at any Bashas' or AJ's Fine Foods store during the month of March. 3TV will also promote the telethon in news programming that day.

"For more than 30 years the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona has been providing hope, strength and joy to children with life-threatening medical conditions," said Nick Nicholson, President and General Manager of KTVK and KASW. "We are proud to provide the support of both our stations to raise the funds needed to help Arizona children and their families experience the remarkable power of a wish."

"Wish Saturday" is only one way that CW6 and 3TV are helping Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Arizona celebrate their 30-year mark. CW6 has produced public service announcements (PSAs) featuring Wish parents sharing the impact their child's wish had on them and their child's well-being. Those PSAs can be seen on Members of 3TV's on-air team are scheduled to participate in the organization's signature events in 2010.
