Boise Ranks #1 in Primetime Viewing of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics

Boise, ID - KTVB is the highest ranked TV station in the country for primetime viewership of the Vancouver Winter Games according to Nielsen Research. News Channel 7 scored the highest marks in household share among the top 140 television markets.

The Olympics attracted huge audiences for NBC, and the primetime audience in the Boise DMA was especially large. KTVB posted a 28 household rating and 55 household share. In Olympic terms, News Channel 7 "Captured Gold" against every NBC TV station in the nation's top 140 markets.

"KTVB's success is a reflection of Idaho's love of winter sports and support for local athletes," said Doug Armstrong, President and General Manager of the KTVB News Group. "The games provided viewers with an opportunity to share and enjoy the Olympic experience with our hometown heroes."

KTVB dominated its local news competition as well. Presenting coverage from Vancouver in every newscast, News Channel 7 scored first in ratings and audience share in all time periods. Additionally, KTVB attracted more viewers from sign on to sign off than its next three news competitors combined.

Online coverage also proved to be very popular. KTVB.Com's Olympic Zone section was the most viewed Winter Games site per capita in the country. Overall, the Olympic Zone on KTVB.com ranked seventh, beating all but six other NBC stations nationwide.
