KTVB Honored with National Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence

Boise, ID The Radio Television Digital News Association has honored the KTVB Newsgroup with the National Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence. The RTDNA evaluates samples of a station's newscast, breaking news coverage, continuing coverage, features and news website, granting this award to the news organization that demonstrates outstanding depth and scope of news coverage. KTVB is one of only two local television news teams in the country to receive the 2010 National Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence.

"This award represents an exceptional honor for our news team," KTVB News Director Jim Gilchriest said in response to today's announcement. "Edward R. Murrow embodied the ideals of journalism: accuracy, fairness, relevance, holding the powerful accountable. It's what Murrow stood for and everything we strive to be. So we're humbled and honored to receive this prestigious award."

The RTNDA has honored outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Murrow's pursuit of excellence in journalism embodies the spirit of the awards that carry his name. Murrow Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession.
