Louisville, KY - You can do it all at the 2nd Annual WHAS11 Health & Fitness Expo coming to the Kentucky International Convention Center Friday, July 9th and Saturday, July 10th from 10a.m.-5p.m. The Expo is a FREE to the public event and will feature activities and fun for the whole family. "As a community leader WHAS11 is invested in providing this unique outreach program for Kentuckiana families, providing them with health and fitness information and tests that they might not normally have access to", said WHAS11 President and General Manager Mark Pimentel. See the latest health and fitness products, learn about innovative health care options, sample healthy foods, get autographs from WHAS11 on-air personalities, and check out the performances on the Dance and Demonstration stages. There is something for everyone interested in committing to a healthier lifestyle! Special guests include Buddy Bat and players of the Louisville Bats on Friday, July 9th from 11:00am-Noon and ABC's Jason Cook "Dr. Matt Hunter" from General Hospital from 12:30pm-2:30pm. On Saturday, July 10th don't miss Melissa Archer "Natalie Buchanan" from one life to live from 11:30am-1:30pm.
Interactive activities at the Expo include an American Red Cross Blood Services blood drive. The summer months are a difficult time to recruit enough blood donors to meet the demand of patients and hospitals in your region, so this is a great time to donate. The Louisville Fire Department will be bringing an antique Fire Truck, Authentic Fire Truck, and Fire Safety House to the event and the Louisville Water Company is bringing their "Smile Kentucky" mobile unit for Dental Screenings.
There will be over 60 FREE different screenings and tests at the Inaugural WHAS11 Health & Fitness Expo including assessments of brain injuries, glucose testing, BMI and many more. Norton Health Care is bringing "The Norton Cancer Institute Mobile Prevention Center" and will offer mammograms, Pap smears and prostate screening exams for Kentucky residents age 40 and older on Friday, July 9, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the event. UofL Health Care will be providing their Mammography vehicle for on-site Mammograms on Saturday, July 10, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the event. In addition, UofL will be offering Blood Pressure, BMI Consultation General Health Questions, Helmet fittings, Breast self exam training module, Oral cancer screening, Stroke risk assessment, Depression risk assessment, and Movement disorder screenings.
