Kellie Patterson joins WCNC as Weekend Anchor/Reporter

Charlotte, NC - WCNC-TV named Kellie Patterson as the weekend evening anchor at NewsChannel 36. She will also report on consumer and medical stories. The Greenville, South Carolina native returns to the Carolinas from KENS-TV, a sister Belo station in San Antonio, Texas, where she hosted "Great Day SA" and served as a substitute anchor for their morning newscasts.

"It's wonderful to have a member of the Belo family come 'home' to the Carolinas. Kellie's a true talent who will bring energy, personality and professionalism to the anchor desk," said Executive News Director Corrie Harding.

Patterson may be familiar to die-hard University of South Carolina fans. She is a former Gamecock cheerleader and alumna of the school. However, followers of "The Amazing Race" may remember her as a competitor on that reality show. "I am thrilled to be heading back home to the Carolinas! To do what I love in a wonderful city, surrounded by my family and friends, is truly a dream come true,"
said Patterson.

Beginning September 4th, watch her anchor "NewsChannel 36 at 6:00" and "NewsChannel 36 at 11:00" on Saturday and Sunday.
