NewsChannel 36 to Debut News at 4:30am on Monday, September 13, 2010

Charlotte, NC -- WCNC-TV is excited to announce an historic expansion for NewsChannel 36. As you know, the Charlotte news audience has grown, and grown more competitive, in the early mornings. WCNC will offer "NewsChannel 36 Today" a full half-hour earlier, starting at 4:30am, beginning Monday, September 13, 2010.

People are getting up earlier to deal with the demands of our increasingly busy lives, and WCNC will be right there with them. NewsChannel 36 anchors Jeff Campbell and Anjanette Flowers will provide the first local news of the day, and Larry Sprinkle will give our viewers their first look at the day's weather. Initially, traffic news will be handled on an as-needed basis by Jeff and Anjanette.

The expansion coincides with a renewed focus on providing the Carolinas TV viewers with the best possible news coverage. That effort continues from 5am to 7am, and throughout the entire broadcast day, using the resources at NewsChannel 36's disposal including our Mobile Newsrooms, our Washington DC Bureau, the NBC News Channel next door and a dedicated group of anchors and reporters gathering the news in every neighborhood.

"I'm excited to be the first local station to offer news to a growing number of folks who are getting up earlier every day. We're committed at NewsChannel 36 to helping keep our viewers informed, in what is an increasingly busy world," said Executive News Director Corrie Harding.

The 4:30am newscast debuts Monday, September 13th.
