Texas' Largest Televised New Year's Eve Bash Sizzles When WFAA-TV And American Airlines Center's 4th Annual Big D NYE Returns To Dallas' Victory Park

WinStar World Casino Sponsors the Area's Largest New Year's Eve Celebration with Live Entertainment and the Night's Largest Fireworks Display

Dallas, Texas - For the more than 25,000 people attending in 2009, it was a firecracker for the senses and a perfect way to ring in a brand new year. Riding the success of three consecutive years as Texas' largest televised New Year's Eve celebration, WFAA and American Airlines Center have announced plans for the splashiest event yet. This year's edition of Big D NYE returns to Dallas' sleek Victory Park with hot new bands, a massive fireworks display and tons of entertainment, all airing on a high definition television broadcast. WinStar World Casino returns as the event's presenting sponsor, joining organizers WFAA and American Airlines Center.

Tabbed "Dallas' own Times Square" by the Dallas Morning News, previous Big D NYE celebrations have filled downtown streets and plazas with revelers surrounding downtown's Victory Park development, which is located adjacent to the American Airlines Center. Active crowds provided colorful backdrops to usher in the New Year with live broadcasts on WFAA. Hosted by top rated television sports anchor Dale Hansen and Chief Meteorologist Pete Delkus, WFAA's locally produced program in 2010 was seen by more than 450,000 Dallas-Fort Worth viewers. Belo Corp. television stations in Houston and New Orleans also broadcast Big D NYE.

This year's slate of entertainment begins at 7 p.m. when the Dallas Stars host the Vancouver Canucks for an NHL battle inside the American Airlines Center. Outside on Victory Plaza, WFAA's televised coverage of Big D NYE starts at 10:30 p.m. with live performances from bands on the North Texas Chevy Dealers Music Stage. This year the station will also pitch live to the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma for exciting interviews and contests.

Local pop/rock favorite The Bright is scheduled to take the stage to kick-off the evening's musical entertainment followed by high-energy headliner, Downtown Fever. Performances will be projected on gigantic high-definition video screens adjacent to Victory Plaza for the overflowing crowds to see. The night culminates with a traditional countdown to midnight and the Stream Energy Fireworks Spectacular that will be visible from all over the downtown region, glittering high above Dallas' skyline.
