KGW NewsChannel 8 named Station Of The Year by OAB

Belo station also honored with nine "Awards for Excellence" and the
Broadcast Heritage Award

PORTLAND, OR - KGW NewsChannel 8 was named Television Station of the Year by the Oregon Association of Broadcasters at its annual conference held Saturday, October 23. The station has held the title for seven of the last eight years. The award recognizes outstanding journalism and public service throughout the entire year.

KGW NewsChannel 8 also garnered nine "Awards of Excellence," more than all other Portland television stations combined. Every area of the station's work was recognized, including outstanding reporting in several areas, weathercast, photography, public affairs, promotion, local programming, and overall service to Oregon Broadcasting.

In addition to the Awards for Excellence, KGW NewsChannel 8's Director of Programming and Creative Services, Brenda Buratti, was recognized with the 2010 Broadcast Heritage Award. The award recognizes a minimum of 15 years of outstanding service to Oregon broadcasting.

Ms. Buratti was honored for her more than 25 years in Portland television. She has developed, produced, and brought to air more local programming than any other individual in Portland. Her work and leadership with creative teams has captured the most prestigious awards in broadcasting including Emmys, Iris awards, and the Peabody award. From the move to HD news programming to the launch of the KGW Studio on the Square, Brenda Buratti has been a key part of every important development in Portland television.
