WFAA-TV and American Airlines Center Announce Grand Prize Winner of The Big D NYE "Fast Track To Fame" Competition for Musicians

Texas Band Sleeperstar is Set to Perform Live at the
State's Largest Televised New Year's Eve Event

Dallas, Texas - Last October when WFAA and American Airlines Center announced an innovative new contest that would select a band or local artist to showcase at the state's largest televised New Year's Eve celebration, the switchboards and web site lit up with requests for more information.

In conjunction with ( ) and American Airlines Center, WFAA's "Fast Track to Fame" competition quickly caused a buzz in the area entertainment community. Artists from the Dallas-Fort Worth market were encouraged to enter an original song in the competition for the opportunity to be selected to perform at this year's edition of Big D NYE on December 31.

After a full month of extreme competition, the best and brightest artists rose to the top of the "Fast Track to Fame" Music Channel. Music experts at and a special panel from WFAA reviewed the top 10 ranked artists in the channel rigorously, and the top band has been selected.

The grand-prize winner is a group of native Texans known as Sleeperstar. They beat out the rest of the competition to perform live at Big D NYE in front of an energized audience of over 30,000 people outside American Airlines Center at Dallas' sleek Victory Park complex, as well as to a televised audience of over 450,000 viewers. In addition to performing live at Big D NYE, Sleeperstar will receive a cash prize, a special promotional feature on the Big D NYE web site and along with tickets to a Big D NYE VIP Party.
