New Weekend Anchors Named at FOX 11

Tucson, AZ - Two members of the current news staff at KMSB, the Belo-owned Fox affiliate in Tucson, Arizona, have been named as anchors of the weekend newscasts.

KMSB President and General Manager Bob Simone announced today that Samantha Ptashkin and Marcelino Benito will take over the anchor duties later this month. Simone said: "I'm pleased we are able to provide these two talented reporters inside our news operation with this opportunity and expect their journalistic expertise to extend to the anchoring positions."

Ptashkin and Benito will replace longtime Fox 11 reporter and anchor Deanna Morgan who has resigned the station effective December 31, 2010. Both Ptashkin and Benito are graduates of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Ptashkin received her Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism in 2008. Ptashkin worked as an anchor and reporter at WREX-TV in Rockford, Illinois, before joining KMSB in June, 2010. Benito received a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Medill in 2010. Benito worked at the Big Ten Network in Chicago, WLNS-TV in Lansing, Michigan and at, an online Spanish newspaper in Madrid, Spain, prior to joining KMSB in August, 2010.
