KTVK 3TV News Special Examines Impact of Medical Marijuana
Takes a Look Inside Budding Business As State Officials Prepare for Public Hearings
PHOENIX - Next week Arizonans will get their first look at what could be the state's medical marijuana law but are they prepared for what they'll see? KTVK 3TV explores the impact of this budding business from all angles and asks the question - medical marijuana: a legitimate industry or reefer madness?
The 30-minute special, "Arizona's Marijuana Mandate," explores the rules currently being drafted by the Arizona Department of Health Services and the impact those rules will have on Arizona law enforcement, dispensary owners, caregivers, growers, patients and doctors. The special, fronted by 3TV's Beverly Kidd, documents what has health experts most frustrated and why the law has America's toughest sheriff scared. Kidd takes viewers to Colorado and New Mexico where similar medical marijuana laws are in place and examines how those laws are working.
"The purpose of this special report is not to debate whether or not marijuana should be legal in Arizona," said Brad Remington, 3TV Executive News Director. "But rather educate our viewers on what lies ahead and how they can get involved in making sure this law is what they envision."
The Arizona Department of Health Services will hold public hearings across the state next week in hopes of getting feedback on the proposed rules.
"Arizona's Marijuana Mandate" will air on Wednesday, February 9th at 6:30 p.m. An encore presentation of the special will air on Sunday, February 13th at 6 p.m.
