KGW NewsChannel 8 is the #1 News Station in February

Belo station captures mornings, noon, and evening news viewers

PORTLAND, OR - KGW NewsChannel 8 was the #1 Portland television station for news in the February 2011 Nielsen sweeps period which ended March 2.

With the strength of its local news, NewsChannel 8 at Sunrise, and NBC's Today Show, KGW NewsChannel 8 earned the highest viewership all morning as measured by Nielsen station estimates live + same day viewing household ratings average from 4:30 AM to 10 AM .

NewsChannel 8 at noon also won in household ratings for the noon-12:30 PM time period.

Evenings, Nielsen station estimates live + same day household ratings average showed KGW NewsChannel 8 as the most watched station with NewsChannel 8 at 5, NBC Nightly News, and NewsChannel 8 at 6 from 5 PM to 6:30 PM

With the area's most trusted late news team, KGW NewsChannel 8's 11 PM news showed the greatest increase in the market from its network lead-in to its late news. NewsChannel 8 at 11 increased 22% in household share over the NBC prime time programming.

In February the station saw a substantial leap in users turning to kgw.com and kgw.com mobile for continuing coverage of severe weather conditions. In a single day, the website captured over 1.5 million page views and the kgw.com mobile app registered 3,000 downloads.
