PHOENIX - KTVK 3TV earned a prestigious regional Edward R. The special investigative program focused on one of Arizona's most infamous prison breaks resulting in murder and a 3-week cross country crime spree. 3TV was the only Phoenix television station recognized in the competition.

"First, I want to congratulate our team for its hard work digging into a story that captivated Arizona and the country," said Brad Remington, Executive News Director for 3TV. "The documentary is a perfect example of 3TV's long tradition of providing hyper-local coverage of what matters to the people of Arizona."

The documentary was produced by Jason Berry. News anchor Beverly Kidd hosted the special and reported. Kidd went face-to-face with the master mind behind the prison escape. Michael Conlee served as the chief photographer and Charlie Hickman edited the award winning entry. 3TV's investigation asked the tough questions to find out why this could happen and its impact on the families caught in the crossfire.
